Die Litter

The goal of this project was to create branding and collateral for a charity trash cleanup organization which was unlike any other. Piquing the interest of more young adults through branding they can get behind rather than the lacklustre competition. Die Litter isn't like the other charity organizations with sterile, bland branding. Die Litter is gritty, hardcore, and all about getting dirty for a good cause. The challenge of the project was to create a brand identity that still aligns with a charity organization, but visually is nothing like one.

The logo is a coffin with a recycling logo on it, which reflects the hardcore, punk, and metal aesthetic Die Litter is going for. Inside the coffin is a gross, dripping figure that embodies the garbage and grime that Die Litter gets rid of for good. The main colour is black, like many hardcore and metal bands, and the accent colours are green, representing the gross, dirty work the brand does to make sure their communities are clean. The typography is gritty spray paint stencil lettering, which is often seen on hardcore album covers. The design elements of drips and splatters all continue the hardcore and dirty aspect of the brand. All together, the branding is reminiscent of hardcore, punk, and metal band branding, but it leans into the dirty aspect of the work. Instead of shying away from the less appealing portion of the work, Die Litter embraces it. By using the right aesthetic and elements, you can interest a certain audience, like rock-loving young adults, in something they normally wouldn't want to get into, like charity work. This project was hard for a lot of people to get behind, but after working hard for it, I was able to change a lot of people's minds.
